Sarah Kay and Phil Kaye are just amazing. They’re not related – or dating – but they have been performing together since they were freshmen at Brown. They also run Project Voice, which has educated and inspired school children in thirty countries. They have been performing this poem for at least six years, but I only heard it for the first time today.
I first became a fan of Sarah Kay when I heard her 2011 TED Talk, featuring “If I should have a daughter” (a.k.a. “Point B”). I enthusiastically share “Not Just Another Math Problem” with fellow educators. Sarah began performing at the age of 14 and twelve years later published her first collection of poems, No Matter the Wreckage.
